POETRY

Science describes

accurately from outside,

poetry describes

accurately from inside.

Science explicates,

poetry implicates.

Both celebrate

what they describe.

I'm an aspiring poet. Here are a few of my recent creations.

Perennial

​

I am wild beauty

​

supple and rigid

gorgeous and grotesque

resilient and wounded

sublime and ordinary

​

armored and vulnerable

withering and thriving

limited and limitless

dying and transforming

 

I am perennial

Sweet holding

​

I run into the rain,

feeling it sting my face,

again and again

​

winds gusting,

I leap over tangles

of fallen branches

​

I summon the strength

to keep going,

this push is familiar

​

as I climb, higher and higher,

the raindrops soften,

caressing my cheeks

​

the universe's tears

meet mine, and

I feel held by the forest

​

only in my slowing

can I feel the sweet holding

of the storm

haikus etc

​

morning light caresses

brightening leaves, slowly

kissing them present

​

as darkness descends

audacious colors soften

an invitation?

​

fluid memories

sloshing around in my heart

longing to escape

​

resisting what is

through constant origami

trust the unfolding

​

fully inhaling

ways you return me to me

steeped in blessing tea

​

thank you redtail hawk

for the reminder that I

do not fly alone

​

delicate blossoms

their strength is their tenderness

peaceful warriors

​

letting it all in

everything is magnified

wounds and blooms alike

​

rapids fill our hearts

with humility and awe

soul-nourishing flow
