POETRY

Science describes

accurately from outside,

poetry describes

accurately from inside.

Science explicates,

poetry implicates.

Both celebrate

what they describe.

        - Ursula K. Le Guin

I'm an aspiring poet. Here are a few of my recent creations.

Perennial

I am wild beauty

supple and rigid

gorgeous and grotesque

resilient and wounded

sublime and ordinary

armored and vulnerable

withering and thriving

limited and limitless

dying and transforming

I am perennial

Sweet holding

I run into the rain,

feeling it sting my face,

again and again

winds gusting,

I leap over tangles

of fallen branches

I summon the strength

to keep going,

this push is familiar

as I climb, higher and higher,

the raindrops soften,

caressing my cheeks

the universe's tears

meet mine, and

I feel held by the forest

only in my slowing

can I feel the sweet holding

of the storm

haikus etc

morning light caresses

brightening leaves, slowly

kissing them present

as darkness descends

audacious colors soften

an invitation?

fluid memories

sloshing around in my heart

longing to escape

resisting what is

through constant origami

trust the unfolding

fully inhaling

ways you return me to me

steeped in blessing tea

thank you redtail hawk

for the reminder that I

do not fly alone

delicate blossoms

their strength is their tenderness

peaceful warriors

letting it all in

everything is magnified

wounds and blooms alike

rapids fill our hearts

with humility and awe

soul-nourishing flow
